IGNITION FALL TO COUGARS, 20-10

Southfield, Mich. - The Detroit Ignition (8-4) were defeated
20-10 by the California Cougars (7-4) in front of the 15th consecutive sell-out
crowd at Compuware Arena tonight. Despite the defeat, Detroit holds on to
their share of first place in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
California midfielder Brian Farber scored the game’s first points at 6:22 in the
first quarter with a two-point shot off an assist from Naldo. Ignition forward
and reigning MISL MVP Jamar Beasely responded with two points for Detroit at
11:21 in the first.
Semir Mesanovic scored his first of three goals on the night at 11:29 in the
second quarter to give the Cougars a two-point lead. Ignition defender Jonathan
Greenfield tied the teams up at four-all with his 25th MISL career goal at 12:32
in the second.
Droo Callahan would go on to score a hat trick on the night with three two-point
goals for the Ignition, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Cougars who won
20-10.
The Ignition will travel to Newark tomorrow to take on the expansion New Jersey
Ironmen (8-4).
