   January 9, 2008

Southfield, MI -  The Major Indoor Soccer League has named Droo Callahan Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending January 6.  This is the third time Callahan has been awarded Player of the Week honors this season.   He currently ranks first on the Ignition in blocks with 27, and has the third-highest point total with 27 so far this season.

Callahan scored two hat tricks on the weekend with six two-point goals.  His first trio of goals came against the California Cougars on Friday, January 4 at Compuware Arena.  The second hat trick came in the Ignition’s 21-12 victory over the New Jersey Ironmen on Saturday, January 5.  Callahan’s offensive attack on Saturday gave the club momentum to come back from a two-point deficit and overtake the Ironmen to retain their share of first place. Callahan also posted six blocks in a 10-4 victory over Milwaukee on New Year’s Eve and added a block on the weekend against the Ironmen for seven total blocks over the three contests.
