IGNITION WEATHER STORM TO STAY IN FIRST PLACE

Plymouth, Mich. - The Detroit Ignition (10-4) defeated the
Chicago Storm (9-5) 12-4 tonight to keep their share of first place in the Major
Indoor Soccer League.
Ignition forward and reigning MISL MVP Jamar Beasley scored the first points of
the match at 4:58 in the first quarter, a two-point goal with an assist from
Ricardinho. Chicago’s Mariano Bollella responded with two points for the
visitors with just over a minute to play in the quarter. Ryan Mack scored two
points for Detroit 30 seconds into the second quarter with an assist from Droo
Callahan to put the club up 4-2 at halftime.
Midfielder Kyt Selaidopoulos kicked the second half off for the Ignition with a
two-point goal at 14:24 in the third quarter. Selaidopoulos struck again at
2:08 in the fourth quarter with an unassisted two-point score to give Detroit a
six point lead.
Beasley scored his second goal of the night at 4:36, a two-point shot off an
assist from Callahan. Storm midfielder Matthew Stewart added two more points
for Chicago at 7:41, but Ignition defender Jonathan Greenfield cemented the win
for Detroit with a two-point score at 9:22.
The Ignition will host the Milwaukee Wave (10-4) next Friday, January 18, 2008
at Compuware Arena.
