IGNITION FALL TO KIXX, 15-13, IN PHILADELPHIA
Fourth quarter comeback effort isn’t
enough to overtake defending champs

The Detroit Ignition (12-6) were defeated 15-13 by the defending MISL
Champion Philadelphia KiXX (9-11) tonight in Philadelphia.
Ignition
captain Droo Callahan scored the first points of the night with an
unassisted three-point goal at 3:29 in the first quarter. Forward
Jamar Beasley added an unassisted two-point score for Detroit at 11:11 to give the Ignition a 5-0
lead over the home team as the first quarter came to a close.
Philadelphia
defender Pat Morris put the KiXX on the board just under five minutes
into the second quarter with a three-point score off an assist from
Anthony Donatelli. Mike Apple responded for the Ignition, scoring
a two-point goal with an assist from Abraham Francois. Philadelphia closed out the half with a 6-0
run, putting the KiXX up 9-7 at halftime.
Philadelphia’s
scoring attack continued into the second half as the KiXX scored another
six unanswered points to bring the score to 15-7. At 4:01 in the
fourth quarter, Ignition midfielder Ryan Mack kicked off Detroit’s comeback effort with a two-point
tally off an assist from Callahan. Less than two minutes later,
Matt Johnson added another two points for Detroit with an assist from Ignition rookie Ze
Roberto. Callahan scored his second goal of the night at 6:00 to
put the club within two, but the comeback wasn’t enough to overtake the
KiXX who won 15-13.
