The Detroit Ignition
(19-7) host the New Jersey Ironmen (13-14) on Friday night at Compuware
Arena at 7:35 pm (EST). The
Ignition will be collecting used soccer equipment –specifically full
kits, soccer balls and shoes under size 8 - to donate to underprivileged
children in Africa during the game.
On Sunday, the club travels to Milwaukee to face the Wave
(19-7) in a battle for first place in the MISL.

Ignition (19-7) vs. New Jersey Ironmen (13-14)
The Ignition will face the Ironmen on Friday, March 28 for the last time
during the 2007-08 regular season. The club will look to even up
their record with New Jersey, which currently stands at 1-2. The
Ironmen are led by Dan Antoniuk, who has scored 83 points so far this
season.
March 30, 2008: Detroit Ignition (19-7) at Milwaukee Wave (19-7)
The Ignition head to Milwaukee on Sunday to play the first of two
crucial match-ups between the two clubs. The Ignition and Wave
have been locked in first-place tie for several weeks, and both teams
are looking to clinch a bye during the first round of playoffs by
securing a one or two seed. Wave forward Greg Howes leads the
league in scoring with 107 points on the season.

WEEK’S OUTINGS: March 22, 2008 -
Ignition, 29 Cougars, 12:
The Detroit Ignition (19-7) scored an
all-time high 29 points on the host California Cougars (9-18) last
weekend for the club’s seventh straight victory.
Jamar Beasley
started the scoring off early for the Ignition, netting a two-point
tally just 17 seconds into the match. At 4:35 of the
first quarter, Hewerton Moreira buried an unassisted three-point shot to
give Detroit a five-point lead. Ignition rookie Leo Gibson
scored his second and third MISL career goals two minutes apart in the
first, putting the Ignition up 9-0. Forward Ryan Hall put
the Cougars on the board at 12:02 with a two-point score off an assist
from Franck Mbemba.
Just 36 seconds into
the second, California Head Coach/forward Bernie Lilavois scored a
two-point goal with an assist from Majell Aterado. Less than
30 seconds later, defender Evan McNeley scored two more points for the
Cougars with an assist from Lilavois. At 1:52 of the second,
Ignition Captain Droo Callahan kick-started another scoring drive for
Detroit with a two-point tally off an assist from Hewerton. At
5:43, Beasley put a three-point shot past California keeper Matt
McDougall with an assist from Ze Roberto. 18 seconds later,
Beasley scored again to give the Ignition a 17-6 lead. At
7:43, Beasley scored his fourth goal of the night – a two-point tally
with an assist from Hewerton. With just over a minute to play in
the half, Lilavois notched two-points for the Cougars with an assist
from Aterado. Defender Jonathan Greenfield closed out the
half for Detroit with a two-point goal to bring the score to 21-8.
Gibson scored the
third quarter’s only goal at 11:50, pushing the Ignition’s lead to 15
off a give from Ze Roberto. At 3:39 of the fourth, Detroit forward
Mike Apple scored a two-pointer with an assist from Callahan.
Defender Antonio Sutton responded for the Cougars at 4:32 with a
two-point goal off a give from Aterado. At 7:03, Lilavois netted
his third goal of the night – a two point shot with an assist from
McNeley. Birmingham native Ryan Mack scored two points for
the Ignition at 11:05 with a set-up from Ze Roberto.
With 11 seconds to go, Beasley scored his fifth goal of the game, a
two-pointer that brought the final score to 29-12.
