Warriors of Woodhaven came back from a 1-3 goal deficit to secure all three
points. Lincoln Park scored at the six minute mark for a quick lead. The
Warriors fought right back and tied the game six minutes later with a
brilliant over the head goal from Mario Konja from about seven yards out,
following a Josh Dwornick pass. The Railsplitters of Lincoln Park came
firing back and scored two more to gain a two goal lead. Not to be outdone,
Nate Bayer pulled one back for the Warriors with a nifty little flick into
the corner of the net, assisted by Cody Repp. Hard work following a corner,
saw the Warriors tie the game when Nate Bayer headed from close range for
his brace, with seven minutes left in the half. This was assisted by Tony
DiResta. Lincoln Park fired back scoring again for a 4-3 lead, a couple of
minutes later. Not to be outdone once more, Matt Pendrick tied the game for
the Warriors with just over one minute left in the half, when he slid a nice
ground ball into the corner, following nice work by Austin Ruddell. Half
time 4-4. The Warriors have not been a high scoring team this season, so
the four first half goals were quite a surprise. Second half, both teams
were fighting hard but fatigue was beginning to show and the Warriors were
able to settle down and play some very nice soccer, controlling much of the
play and blanked the Railsplitters in the second half. Josh Dwornick gave
the Woodhaven squad their first lead of the game at the 15 minute mark,
following a nice touch from Alex Troisi. Four minutes later, Nate Bayer,
the Warrior's midfielder and captain completed his hat-trick with another
header from close in, following a nice cross from Roger Salinas. Nate calls

character, pulling out a two goal win after being two goals down.

Hard fought game in the Downriver League where the Warriors
of Woodhaven were victors to the tune of a lone goal. Woodhaven
started strong, pressing the Kennedy goal immediately but their finishing
woes continued. Plenty of shots on the Kennedy goal but not the quality
that decides a game. Tony DiResta rattled one off the post at the eight
minute mark but the Warriors missed many glorious opportunities despite
having the bulk of the game possession.. The Kennedy defense and keeper
played very well and their offense had several good opportunities in the
first half. Half time 0-0. Second half, play evened out, creating more
midfield play and defensively Kennedy stood tall but the Warriors fired many
shots on their goal but not of great quality. Kennedy had several corners
and looked dangerous. The Warrior defense played well and did not allow
very many quality chance of their goal. The Warriors wrapped up the points
at the 31 minute mark when Cody Repp worked hard to win the ball in the
Kennedy half of the field and put a nice through ball to Luke McCormick who
outhustled a defender and the goalkeeper to slide home a nice ground ball
from around 14 yards out, picking the left corner. Mitch Bartes had the
Warriors shut-out. Warriors were well served in defense by Nick DiResta,
Lino LoDuca, John Duderstadt and Mario Konja. In the midfield Nate Bayer,
Zack Bennett, Austin Ruddell and Cody Repp played well, while up front, Luke
McCormick and Roger Salinas worked hard. Alex Troisi was doing well before
his game ending injury. The Woodhaven season record stands at 2-1-1 o/all

minute in overtime to top the exciting comeback. Sophomore Jeremy Smith got the
ball in the middle of the field and flipped it into space over the Falcon
defense. Morse ran onto the ball and blasted it past a diving Ogemaw
goalkeeper.
"We played
better defense in the second half", stated Schneider. "We were standing around,
in the first half, just watching Ogemaw work the ball. We were lucky they
didn't mercy (rule) us! They out hustled us the first half but we out hustled
them in the second."
"We made a
great comeback", was Eberhardt's take. "I feel like I helped the team to get
going by scoring the first two goals."
