Woodhaven 1 - Carlson 0 (OT)
The Woodhaven varsity took the field for the
much anticipated rematch in the Downriver League. The style of the game was
a concern to the Warriors who had three players injured in the first game at
Carlson. The game was pretty fast and the Warriors came close on several
occasions but narrowly missed with two shots from close in and also a nice
header from inside four yards. The Marauders played most of the game with
only one forward and this made it difficult for the Warriors to penetrate
their defense and score, despite controlling the bulk of play throughout.
One of the Warriors had to leave the game with an injury due to hard
tackling by the Marauders team. It was unfortunate for the Warriors not to
be ahead in the game but the Marauders keeper played terrific, keeping them
in the game. Half time 0-0. Second half, Carlson used the same format but
the Warriors seemed intimidated by the rough play of the Carlson squad. The
Marauders continued to try and break through the Warriors defense with their
lone forward and through balls but the Warrior defense and keeper stood firm
and only allowed a couple of shots on goal. The game continued to be
physical and the Warriors picked up another injury in the second half,
reducing their subs to only three. A lot of mid-field play created a
stalemate and the game ended with a 0-0 score. To overtime, the game would
go. The Warriors immediately pressed forward for a quick finish to the game.
With less than two minutes into the game, the Woodhaven team carried the
ball up the left wing, Matt Pendrick beat a Marauder's midfielder and slid a
nice pass to the Warrior's left winger, Tony DiResta who took possession
inside the 18 yard box. He worked his way to the byline, cut back, the moved
towards the Carlson goal, beating four players inside the goal are and then
slid the ground ball into the far corner of the goal, leaving their keeper
with no chance. It was a well earned victory for the Warriors. Mitch Bartes
had the Warriors shut-out with five saves in the game. Great effort by
Warriors personnel, Cody Repp, Lino LoDuca, Carlos Rodriguez, Zack Bennett,
Nick DiResta, Mario Konja, Tony DiResta, Mario Campos, Austin Ruddell and
Matt Pendrick.

for the trip, and once the Carlson team got to Truman, they also were late
to “show up” on the field. What was one of the ugliest first halves of
soccer played, Truman found themselves on top 1-0 thanks to a goal in the
37th minute from Adrian Andrade, assisted by Klejdis Lalaj. The play began
on a restart that resulted in a Truman unmarked player and a chip over the
Carlson goal keeper. Truman held onto the lead until the 63rd minute when
the Marauders finally broke the ice. On a service from a corner kick served
from Zach Torres, Petey LeFevers found the back of the net for the game
tying goal. In the 74th minute a cross by Carlson player Andy Bobowski
resulted in a defensive hand ball in the box and a penalty kick awarded to
the Marauders. Matt Tracy found the back of the night to get the game
winner. Neither team was able to get into a groove as several whistles
stopped play through-out the game. Carlson improves their overall record to
8-7-3 and 7-5-0 in the conference. Truman conference record is now 0-12-0.

Fraser HS varsity soccer team pulled out a a win late
in the second half of play against a very determined Dakota team. Fraser
open the game in the first two minutes of play with a well placed pass from
senior Sean Mok to junior Mike Kepler who scored the first goal of the game.
It didn't take long for Sean Mok to get the second goal for Fraser HS off a
great combination play from Jon Mueller and Greg Petty. Things were looking
pretty good for Fraser at this point with a two goal lead, but Dakota fired
up after Fraser's second goal with a goal of their own to close the first
half of play. The second half of the game was just as exciting as the first
half. Dakota came out to start the second half of play with very quick
attack and tied the game in the first ten minutes of play. Both teams were

for every ball, but Keith Swistock determined to win this game knocked a
ball off the hand of Dakota player that was inside the penalty area that
resulted in a Penalty Kick for Fraser. Greg Petty step up to the challenge a

Oscoda 9 - Standish 1
The Oscoda Owls were home on Monday night to host
Standish and look for some revenge for a loss earlier in the season, 4-3.
The game started at 6:00pm and finished under the lights in celebration of
AYSO Night. This has become a yearly event when local AYSO players get into
the game for free and get to run the field at halftime.
Standish drew
first blood when Tanner Trombley found the net in the 22nd minute for the
Panthers. That seemed to ignite the Oscoda fire and less than a minute
later, Evan Dennis found fellow team captain, AJ Morse, with a crossing pass
and Morse put it past the Standish keeper to tie the match. The score
remainded tied for the next ten minutes when Morse found Kyle McCausey in
front of the net. Morse flipped a high ball that McCausey buried into the
net with his head. 30 seconds later Morse put Oscoda up by two when he
converted a Penalty Kick and the half ended with Oscoda up, 3-1.
Five
minutes into the second half, Oscoda scored again when Dennis and Morse
hooked up once more to score. Kyle McCausey scored twice in the 52nd minute
with assists going to Morse and Dennis. In the 67th minute defender, Jeremy
Smith, stole the ball and dribbled to the midline where he passed a long
ball over the defense and found Morse who netted his fourth of the match.
Three minutes Morse scored his fifth when Kyle McCausey headed a ball out of
the air and Morse booted it into the net. McCausey ended the match four
minutes later with Morse earning the assist. Oscoda won 9-1, finishing the
match by Mercy Rule with six minutes remaining.
Morse was excited after
the match and said, "We completely dominated tonight. We started out rocky
in the first 20 minutes but came out strong and determined in the second
half." Coach Gary Schneider seconded his thoughts and added, "It was a solid
game. The offense came to play tonight and need to play this up tempo style
more often. We should be showing our speed in every match."
The Oscoda
defense has been solid all season and were on their game all night.
Goalkeeper Coty Nolff had an easy first half, stopping 3 of the 4 shots he
faced. Standish did pick up their offense in the second half, forcing Nolff
to make 11 saves, some of which were point blank and quite acrobatic.
Brandon McCausey led the defense with 6 steals, 1 non-keeper save and 6
intercepts. Brother Kyle racked up 6 steals also. Dennis stole 5 balls, had
a non-keeper save and 3 intercepts. Eric Ostrander had one of his best
