Woodhaven 1 - Dearborn 1
The Warriors of Woodhaven and the Pioneers of Dearborn
played to a tight single goal tie in a hard fought Mega Red
Conference game. It was a very fast paced and fiercely
fought encounter with both teams very anxious for the
points. The Pioneers were out the gate at a faster pace
than the Warriors and were tough to handle for much of the
first half. The Warriors took some time to settle down.
Dearborn were able to sneak one in from close range at the
10 minute mark when Liliana Serratos slid the ball home.
The Warriors did a lot of chasing but were not creating the
quality shots that has been their standard. Half time 0-1.
Second half, it was the Pioneer squad who were on their
heels with the Warriors forcing the play. Dearborn seemed
content to protect their lead and played a very good
defensive game. Neither keeper was very active but both did
their duty well. The Warriors had a hard time breaking down
that Pioneer wall throughout the second half but seemed to
have more spring in their feet as the game wore on. The
tying goal finally came with just under four minutes left
when Lauren Badalamente calmly chipped the ball over the
head of the advancing keeper from around 8 yards, after
receiving a nice pass from Kaitlynn Clemens. Two well
matched teams shared the points on this occasion. Woodhaven

Woodhaven 3 - Edsel Ford 1
In a Mega Red Conference game, the Warriors of Woodhaven
were victors in their first conference game. The Warriors
played a very good game against a tough opponent and were
surprisingly alert considering most girls had not touched a
ball in over two weeks. The Thunderbirds were coming off a
solid Conference victory on Monday night at Crestwood. Play
was fast and intense. Woodhaven immediately put the
pressure on Edsel but missed some excellent opportunities.
Brooke Austin put the Warriors ahead at the 10 minute mark
with a low ball to the keeper's left, after receiving a nice
pass from Renee Morrison. Play moved back and forth for
much of the half but Kaitlynn Clemens put the Woodhaven
squad two up with less than two minutes left in the half.
Kaitlynn fired a hard shot to the left side giving the
keeper no chance. Renee Morrison slid a nice through ball
for the assist. Half time 2-0. Second half, a lot of
mid-field play some nice chance by both teams. Both
goalkeepers came up big for their respective teams. With
15 minutes gone in the half, Lauren Badalamente very calmly
fired a low ground ball past the Edsel keeper from 12 yards
out, after receiving a nice pass from Chelsea Barnes. It
was looking like the Warriors keeper would gain her fifth
shut-out in a row, but the Thunderbirds struck with a nice
header from six yards out to ruin the shut-out, with 0.46
seconds left in the game. The Warriors were well served
with exceptional performances from keeper, Shelby Jackson
and also defenders Kelly Rossi, Kailey Smedo and Courtney
Lukasik. Offensive fireworks from Renee Morrison and Shelby
Mathers, with great support by Bijanka Islami. Woodhaven
season record stands at 5-1-0 o/all and 1-0-0 in Mega Red.
Edsel Ford stand at 3-3-0 o/all and 1-1-0 Mega Red.

Gibraltar Carlson

0
The Gibraltar Carlson Marauders hosted the Belleville Tigers on a brisk Wednesday evening in a MEGA White conference game. Despite controlling the majority of the play in the first half, the Marauders could not find the back of the net and ended the half in a 0-0 deadlock. Things would change quickly in the second half as Christina Czech played a nice through ball that Shelby Jestat buried home for Carlson, just two minutes after the whistle to start play. A few minutes later Shelby had a chance at her second goal but her shot hit the cross-bar and the game remained 1-0. The Tigers pressed the attack in the last ten minutes of the game but were thwarted by the Marauder defense. Playing with great hustle for Carlson were Elizabeth Chesney, Chelsie Donald, Nisa Penland, and Karrah Mollnar. Tabitha Thompson recorded the shutout in net. With the win, Carlson moves to 1-2-1 in the MEGA White and 1-4-1 overall. Belleville drops to 0-2 in the conference and 0-3 overall. Woodhaven 2 - Redford Thurston 0 The Warriors of Woodhaven slipped past Thurston in a Mega Conference cross-over game. Conditions were as good as we have seen for a while and the synthetic grass was nice. Both teams seemed to be missing some players but the game was a fast paced encounter and a very sporting contest. The Warriors pushed forward early and worked hard, firing some very good shots on the opposing goal but the Thurston defense, particularly their flat back four did an excellent job of forcing long range shots. Woodhaven were able to put a high one over the keeper at the 12 minute mark, when Limoza Islami fired home from about 12 yards out, assisted by Kaitlynn Clemens. Half time 1-0. The Warriors recognized that one goal was a very slim margin against a good team and with some speedy Thurston forwards, all the nice play could mean naught if they are caught flat-footed. Woodhaven were able to come out after the break and pounce on the Thurston defense, with Lauren Badalamente scoring at the four minute mark, on a high shot from about 16 yards out, following nice work by Kaitlynn Clemens. At the 15 minute mark of the second period, Woodhaven were penalized with a Red card. Play moved a little more to the center of the field but despite this, the Warriors still created some nice opportunities and also Thurston came close on several occasions. Good quality game by both teams. Warriors defenders, Kelly Rossi, Kailey Smedo, Courtney Lukasik and Candice Bresnahan played well. Bijanka Islami did well in her first game of the season, as did Lauren Badalamente and Brooke Austin. Warrior's keeper, Shelby Jackson, had the shut-out, her fourth in a row. Woodhaven season record stands at 4-1-0....Thurston at 2-3-0. Woodhaven JV 8 - Redford Thurston 1 The Woodhaven JV Lady Warrior's played exceptionally well against a undermanned Redford Thurston squad. Maegan Sawicki led the way with 4 goals. Liz Michaels chipped in with 4 assists. Also scoring goals were Jenny Pistin, Amanda Barnes, Jo Ann Bokor and Megan Hummel on a penalty kick. the Warriors of Woodhaven emerged as victors over their local
rivals, the Allen Park Jaguars. The wind played a significant
part of this game but it was the Warriors who were able to take
advantage of it in the first half, with the wind at their backs.
Woodhaven came out hungry and were quickly on the score board.
Kaitlynn Clemens first home rocket shot from about 20 yards out,
with less than two minutes played, assisted by Broke Austin.
Two minutes later, Jaime Lambrix slid one home following a
nice pass from Kaitlynn Clemens. The game settled down for a
long period and Allen Park played well and came close on a number of
occasions but the Warriors defense did their job well. The
Woodhaven team were able to master the windy conditions a little
better than their opponents and also took advantage of a very short
Jaguar bench but Allen Park by no means gave up. Woodhaven won
some breaks late in the first half and scored two goal inside of one
minute to take the wind out of the Jaguars. Kaitlynn Clemens
fired home another long, high shot from about 25 yards out to catch
the Allen Park keeper off guard. This was an assist from
Presley Hana. Less than a minute later, Jaime Lambrix
completed her brace with a nice stroke from close in, to give the
Warriors a four goal lead at the end of the first half.
This assist came from Erin Decker. Half time 4-0.
Playing into the wind, the Warriors adjusted to try to protect their
lead and counter the Jaguar's fast forwards. As the Jags
pushed forward, it was the Warriors who drew first blood in the
second half. Renee Morrison fired a hard shot, into the wind
from 18 yards out, catching the keeper at the wrong side. Assisted
by Brooke Brennan at the third minute of the half. At the 26 minute
mark, Lauren Badalamente scored from 12 yards out, after receiving a
through ball from Chelsea Barnes. Five minutes later, Lauren
notched her brace with a fine drive from about 12 yards, assisted by
Shelby Mathers. Lauren snared her hat-trick with 12 minutes
remaining in the game, assisted by Kaitlynn Clemens. Shelby
Jackson had the Warrior shut-out, her third of the season.
Exceptional displays from Warriors players, Kaitlynn Clemens, Kelly
Rossi, Brooke Brennan, Jaime Lambrix and Courtney Lukasik. The
Woodhaven season record stands at 3-1-0......Allen Park stand at
1-2-0 Southgate Anderson 3 - Gibraltar Carlson 2 The Gibraltar Carlson Marauders squared
off with the Southgate Anderson Titans on a chilly, windy, Friday
night still plagued by the injury bug that has claimed four
starters. It wasn't a good start for the visitors as Jennifer
Rosecrans notched two goals in the first half for the Titans.
Southgate would add a third goal halfway through the second half on
a rebound goal by Kelsey Scarborough but Carlson was not ready to
give up. Chelsie Donald scored on a breakaway for the Marauders less
than a minute after the Titans went up 3-0 that seemed to ignite the
team. She was credited with a second goal at the 11 minute mark that
appeared to deflect off a Southgate defender that cut the lead to
3-2. The Marauders applied heavy pressure in the last ten minutes
but couldn't score the equalizer. Carlson's Cara Krzesowik and
Christina Czech played solid defensively and Elizabeth Chesney and
Brianna Beck were instrumental in providing the scoring
opportunities for Chelsie's two goals. Carlson drops to 0-2-1 in the
MEGA White and 0-4-1 overall. Southgate moves to 2-0-1 in the
conference and 3-0-1 overall.

Woodhaven 5 - Belleville 0 The Warriors of Woodhaven went on the road to visit the Tigers of Belleville in a Mega Conference crossover game. The blustery wind conditions made it difficult for both teams and under these conditions, both teams played very well. Woodhaven came close on several occasions while playing into the wind but most of the play was around mid-field and mostly on the ground. The Warriors broke the ice when Brooke Austin fired home a low shot at the 28 minute mark, assisted by Limoza Islami. Woodhaven snatched another goal before the half when Renee Morrison caught the keeper out of position and let loose with a 20 yarder into the wide open left side, after receiving a pass from Brooke Brennan. Half time 2-0. The Warriors now had the luxury of the wind at their backs and pushed forward but the Belleville defense did an excellent job of shutting them down. The Warrior's keeper had to be on her toes to blunt several Belleville attacks but her defense were also doing their job well. At the 11 minute mark of the second half, the Warriors notched number three, when Kaitlynn Clemens turned on some beautiful moves to smack home from about 16 yards, with a nice assist to Lauren Badalamente, to give the Warriors a three goal lead. Two minutes later, Kaitlynn notched her brace with another fine display of individual skills. This goal was a shot from about 15 yards out and came from a slick pass by Shelby Mathers on the left wing. Woodhaven would clinch one more goal at the 36 minute mark when Shelby Mathers worked her way through the opposing defense with some nice moves and struck home a low shot to the keepers left, assisted by Kaitlynn Clemens. Warriors defense was well served by good effort from Kelly Rossi, Kailey Smedo, Courtney Lukasik and Candice Bresnahan. Shelby Jackson had the Warriors shut-out, her second of the season.
