The Ventures dominated action throughout as they outshot the Cardinals 25-3 for the game, however could not find the back of the net through the 1st 60 minutes.
The Cardinal Mooney keeper made some nice saves to keep her team in it as Bishop Foley was pressuring from the opening whistle. The Ventures finally came through with 17:17 left as Senior Alex Schalk(10th) converted a beautiful header off a corner kick from Senior Rachael Reed for a 1-0 lead. Bishop Foley would score 5 minutes later as Junior Amber Williamson chipped a ball to Sophomore Kyla Cross(20th) streaking down the middle. Cross made no mistake as she buried the breakaway for a 2-0 lead. Williamson would cap the scoring with just 9 seconds left as she was tackled in the box and converted a PK, her 4th of the season. Sophomore Amanda Mancini made 3 saves for her 9th shutout. Once again the Midfield and Defense was strong as Cardinal Mooney could sustain no offensive threat on the Venture half of the field.

It did not end the way anybody would have liked, but Bishop Foley will move on to the State Semifinals with a 1-0 win over two-time defending State Finalist Greenhills in a game called with 29 minutes left in the 2nd half.
The Ventures came out strong in the 1st 15 minutes as they pressured Greenhills early. However the 1st lightening strike of the night soon put a stop to the play with the score still tied at 0. Bishop Foley continued its strong play after the delay and scored before the half as Senior Rachael Reed put in a long free kick that skidded over the Greenhills Goalkeeper to put the Ventures up 1-0. It was Reed's 3rd goal of the season but 2nd game winning goal in 3 nights.
In the 2nd half Greenhills came out stronger and began to get a little pressure on Bishop Foley. However 11 minutes into the 2nd half more lightening was spotted and the teams were forced to halt play a 2nd time. After a 1 1/2 hour rain delay, the game was called at 10:45pm. Behind a solid defensive effort, Sophomore Goalkeeper Amanda Mancini made 1 save to earn her 8th shutout of the season.
3rd Ranked Bishop Foley will move on to the State Semifinal to take on Cardinal Mooney, a 2-0 winner over Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker. The game will be the 1st Indoor State Playoff game taking place at Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac next Wednesday. Game time is TBD.

The Ventures controlled play throughout as they peppered the St. Marys goalkeeper early. However Bishop Foley could not find the back of the net in the 1st half as the Ventures hit the crossbar 3 times and the goalpost once as the half ended 0-0.
In the 2nd half, Bishop Foley turned it up and the pressure finally paid off. Senior Sweeper Rachael Reed(2nd) found the back corner of the net off a corner kick from Junior Kyla Cross for the 1st Venture goal 12 minutes into the 2nd half. At the 16:00 mark Cross scored her 19th goal of the season off a rebound to give the Ventures a 2-0 cushion. With 8 minutes left, Junior Beth Ann Hill scored her 2nd goal of the season on an assist from Cross to ice the game. Dexter 1 - Warren Regina 0 (2 OT)
Dexter is now 15-2-2. Regina finishes at 9-8-3. Dexter will play Farmington, Friday at Berkley at 7p.

Farmington 3 - Trenton 0

A heavy downpour soaked the artificial surface at Berkley’s Hurley Field, and it helped the Falcons control the ball, the game and the scoreboard. The Falcons (14-4-4) won a district championship on the same field last week, and the ball was bouncing high off the hard ground. “It was giving the defenders fits,” coach Glenn Breuhan said. “They were having a hard time turning with the ball.
“All we did in practice was work on high balls. It was better for us because of the rain, that it wasn’t bouncing.” Consequently, the Falcons were able to play a controlled, passing game that had them with the ball at their feet most of the time – and, in the Trenton zone, to boot. “The girls peaked about six games ago when they began buying into what we’ve been preaching – building and passing, building and passing,” Breuhan said. “We told them to ‘Go out and play like you know how. Play our game and the rest will take care of itself.’ And that’s exactly what happened.” After some early back and forth, Farmington took charge and was on the attack continuously. Farmington had 14 shots on goal and seven corner kicks to Trenton’s none. Several other attacks didn’t fully materialize before they broke through to score their first goal (by Evans) with 8:10 remaining in the first half. Karen Piasecki made it 2-0 before halftime with a goal off a throw in by Natalie Turk with 2:02 on the clock. Piasecki shot a hard ground ball through the middle of the defense from 15 yards. “Karen Piasecki had an outstanding game,” Breuhan said. “Everywhere the ball went she was right there. She anticipated so well tonight, even on defense. If we needed a clear, she was there.” Farmington got its third goal early in the second half (37:49) when Piasecki dribbled up the middle and sent a through ball to Evans inside the 15 for a shot to the left corner. “The girls played well,” Breuhan said. “I thought we played much better than the other team did. We just have to keep the ball rolling.” He added the next game will be much tougher. Farmington plays No. 7-ranked Dexter for the regional championship 7 p.m. Friday at Hurley Field.

Powers, ranked #2 in D-III, will play at Frankenmuth, ranked #5, on Thursday at 3:00pm. Powers and Frankenmuth met earlier this year, with Powers winning a very competitive match. Coach Moody stated, "its never easy to beat a well coached team like Frankenmuth twice in one season. But our girls have played a very competitive schedule all season, and we were in a must-win situation in our last four conference matches to win our league. This is going to be a very difficult, competitive, early tournament match-up for both of us. Frankenmuth (winners 2-1 over Montrose) has the advantage playing at home and having played a strong Montrose team in the first round. We will need to call upon our tradition and tournament experience to win this match." The win raised Powers record to 17-3-1 on the season.
